Unit of competency:  TLILIC2015 - Licence to drive a medium rigid vehicle

​

Objectives:   This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to obtain a licence to drive a medium rigid vehicle. It includes systematically and efficiently controlling all vehicle functions, monitoring traffic and road conditions, managing vehicle condition and performance, and effectively managing hazardous situations.

​

Types of medium rigid vehicles include:

  • two axle rigid trucks, not being a prime mover, above 8 tonnes GVM or a two axle bus above 8 tonnes GVM

 

Entry Requirements:  Drivers participating in this course must have held a Australian Car Licence for a minimum period of 12 months.  *see medical conditions below

Course Content:  Theory, Road law and comprehensive driver training to prepare for all licence assessments

​

Assessment:

  • Theory assessment – you must pass the theory assessment prior to undertaking practical assessment

  • Off Road Skills Assessment - Vehicle Inspection, Cabin Inspection, Load Restraint and Reverse Test

  • On Road Driving Assessment

All training assessment is undertaken with accredited Integral Training Trainers.  Upon successful completion of your course, documentation will be supplied to take to VicRoads to upgrade your licence

​

*Medical Conditions:

  1. Are you currently suffering from, or have suffered from, any serious, permanent or long-term illness, disability, medical condition or injury that may affect your fitness to drive, such as eyesight or hearing problems, blackouts/dizziness, epilepsy/seizures, dementia, diabetes, sleep apnoea, head injury, stroke, high blood pressure, a cardiac, psychiatric or mental condition or a disorder that may deteriorate over time (eg multiple sclerosis)?

  2. Has there been any change to a medical condition that you previously notified to VicRoads?

  3. Are you taking any prescribed medicines (excluding antibiotics, contraceptives, inhalers or Hormone Replacement Therapy)?

If you have answered yes to any of the questions above you may be required to have the VicRoads medical form completed by your doctor and approved by VicRoads before undertaking the course.

​

Special Conditions:

Trainees must

  • Obtain USI (Unique Student Identifier) number

  • Print out of your USI Transcript

  • Enrol and complete supplied LLN (Language Literacy and Numeracy)

 

VicRoads criteria will not allow training on international licences (except NZ). Course Prices/times do NOT Guarantee a Licence.

Course duration/costs do not guarantee students will sit the on road licence test. To be eligible to test, students MUST first meet VicRoads criteria. If criteria are NOT met students will not be able to undergo the on road test and will continue to train for the duration of the course. Additional costs will apply if students book subsequent training and/or testing.

​

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

A hat,  sunscreen, fully enclosed footwear, HI Vis clothing - you can bring your own or we can supply a vest
